Paint does effectively seal the wood – temporarily. It’s the unpainted areas you can’t see that create the problems. Screw holes on the underside of every board for instance invite moisture to work its way under the painted surface. With no place for the water to go the result is rotting wood under the surface. Painted Cypress products will begin to deteriorate within two years if left outside in the weather. A water-based or oil-based stain on the other hand allows the wood to breathe. Any moisture that gets in can still get out. After the color stain is applied to each Cottage Classic piece it is lightly sanded to create a slightly weathered look.About Richey IndustriesFor 20 years Richey Industries has manufactured the finest in outdoor casual furniture under its Great American Woodies brand. A unique combination of finishes modernizes the Traditional Double Rocking Chair in Black and Oak Finish. Made of solid acacia wood the rocking chair frame is painted entirely black except for the seat which bears a savory warm oak finish. Sturdy and comfortable the rocker features a slightly curved slat back a smoothly rounded seat edge and curved armrest ends that allow your wrists to relax while you sit. Decorative turned support spindles under the armrests add a touch of old-style craftsmanship without diminishing the modern suggestion of the black color.

 USA Flag Rocking Chair

Show your patriotism and pride for our country with this unique American Flag Rocking Chair. The block and each wooden “stripe” on the chairs back symbolize the American flag. The rocker is made from Northern White Cedar which has the highest rating from the US Forest Products Laboratory for decay and disease resistance. Left untreated the wood will weather to a beautiful gray. Water-based or oil stains will delay the weathering process. Great for any room in your house or any special spot in the yard.Ships partially assembled. Approximately 15-minute assembly time.About Old Adirondack FurnitureThe Old Adirondack Furniture Company traces its beginning to Flat Rock Camp one of the Great Camps of the Adirondack Park in operation around 1880-1929. Prominent industrialists and their families would retreat to these cool northern camps to escape from the summer heat of New York City Philadelphia and Boston. A foreman at Flat Rock Camp took the opportunity in the off-season to reproduce and refine the original Adirondack chair which became the basis for a furniture operation crafting rustic wood furniture. From this small beginning the furniture operation outgrew Flat Rock Camp and moved to the Grange Building in Willsboro then to a vacant horse nail factory in Keeseville N.Y. Today Old Adirondack operates a modern 25000-square-foot production facility not far from that factory near its Willsboro roots. Despite the company’s expansion and development Old Adirondack furniture still carries the mark of reliable American quality and authentic Adirondack style.
